On November 7, 2024, the USFS provided an update on hiking trail closures in the Sam Houston National Forest. They communicated that the section from Double Lake Recreation Area to Trailhead #13 is now OPEN!
Most sections of the trail are now open for use; however, use caution--the trail may be rough, blocked, or encroached. USFS and Volunteer work teams are working to clear trail as resources permit.
Please be advised access is not permitted and the following trail sections remain
CLOSED.
Trailhead #13 to Trailhead #14.
